Katyani puja begins in Magura
The traditional five-day Katyani puja began here yesterday.
Alhough Durga Puja is the main religious festival of the Hindu community across the country, but Katyani Puja has become the major religious festival of Hindus here now-a-days.
Shatish Chandra of Parnanduali village in Magura Sadar upazila introduced the puja about 55 years ago. With passage of time it has become the prime festival of Hindus.
The puja is celebrated here after a month of Durga Puja. Idol of Katyani Puja is similar to that of Durga.
