Fish export thru' Akhaura stops
Fish export through Akhaura land port has been stopped for three days since Saturday as Indian traders do not take delivery of the item due to high rate fixed by Comilla customs.
The custom and VAT office in Comilla recently re-fixed 1.5 dollars and 2.5 dollars per kilogram of small and big fish respectively, which were one dollar and 1.5 dollars earlier, sources said.
When contacted, assistant commissioner of customs Salauddin Ahmed Ripon said the rates have been re-fixed according to present market price.
Fishes are being exported through Benapol land port at the new rates, he added.
