Jubo Dal leader faces another extortion case

Kalaroa upazila Jubo Dal president Ashraf Hossain faces another extortion case for allegedly taking Tk 50,000 from an unemployed youth in name of giving job. Mahi Uddin Gazi of Cheutia village filed the case with the chief judicial magistrate's court here yesterday. Earlier, two more extortion cases were filed against him in July and August, police said. After hearing, Chief Judicial Magistrate Ranu Bilkis Banu ordered Kalaroa police station officer in charge (OC) for investigation. The complainant alleged that the accused took Tk 80,000 from him at the local BNP office promising job in the Ministry of Health and Family Planning on October 20. But he failed. Later, Ashraf returned Tk 30,000 and gave a cheque for Tk 50,000 of Islami Bank, but it was dishonoured, he said. Ashraf Hossain, arrested on January 28, was released on bail on November 12. On contact, Ashraf Hossain denied the allegations saying, 'It is a conspiracy against me'.
