Villagers flee for safety as over 1,000 gunshots traded on Jaintapur border in Sylhet; offensives after Delhi meeting shock BDR chief (March 15, 2010) The border clashes have been happening for some time. The Indians intruded into the territory of Bangladesh, fished, dug bunkers, and later fired on the innocent villagers injuring 15 of them. It is a violation of the territorial sovereignty of Bangladesh. But we do not know the reactions of the government of Bangladesh. We think it is the duty of the government to protect the territory and its citizens.
Mobaidul Huq India as a democratic country has a high level of chain of command and discipline. We are not willing to accept that BSF is acting unilaterally at our border. They definitely have their blessings from Delhi in this regard. So where do we go from here? The assurance of our PM that India will not do anything counter-productive to Bangladesh seems to have been a bluff.
Abul BM Zakaria Bangladesh must find a way to stop this Indian aggression and hostility. The government must stand ready to guard its citizens.
Jumana Sarwar Bangladeshis - please do not be shocked - India is our friend and BIG brother - a friend and a BIG brother does what is best for us.
Rumana Regular news. But we, still, are friendly neighbours. Also, we will have to say, yes, yes, yes, India will do whatever is good for us!
Shameema Khanom By killing and injuring innocent Bangladeshis the BSF has violated all the norms of civility. Can our foreign ministry ask for the reason from its counterpart -why has it been going on unabated, despite all these meetings between the two sides?
Dr Islam Ah! What a friendship our PM has established with our 'real' friend India!
S.Ali The government will not realize, no matter what happens, that India is not a friendly country. BDR should do exactly what BSF does.
Zerosopher I have understood, reading the article, that there is tension at the borders. So, we should have been cautious about BSF's plans. This is very sad news for us.

Rokibul quits cricket! (March 11, 2010)
How emotional a boy can be at the age of 22! Here is the example. Rokibul showed the non-sportsmanship by quitting.
Pal It is a shock and awe for Bangladesh. This youngster must have been treated poorly. After the Mashrafe incident, treatment meted out to Ashraful, self imposed retirement of another promising cricketer demonstrates that something is very wrong in cricket management.
Khondkar Saleque It is unbelievable. BCB should call him back.
Ishar Tripura This is shocking news for all of us.
Sajed This is pathetic! Along with Sanowar and Rajin Saleh, Rokibul is one of those cricketers with sound technique and temperament for Test cricket! Bangladesh as a young Test-playing nation can ill-afford to absorb this. I am sure he will change his mind.
Ershad He has already given the selectors the answer by scoring very well in the warm-up match. That should have been enough.
Maruf Rahman Rokibul, please change your decision. We don't know what has happened to you.
Mahfuz It's the age ! Only 22 ! This is the time when everything runs in emotion! I think it's no one's fault. The young players deserve better treatment.
Sayeed There must be something wrong inside our national dressing room or in BCB management!!
