Dhaka, the core city of Bangladesh, is becoming simply unliveable! Its gigantic pulling power is the main reason behind such an intolerable situation. Decentralization is an urgent need of the hour. But how? Thousands of people are coming to this city every day, thousands of causes are there! Employment, education, treatment, amusement..! A major portion of them are environmental refugees affected by river erosion, cyclones, floods! Other cities are unable to fulfil their demands. Dhaka is the second worst city in world ranking!! Such a view is really upsetting! We are celebrating 400 years of Dhaka with great enthusiasm, but have we thought for a moment what would be the condition of Dhaka when it will be 500 years old? Simply unimaginable. What would be the government strategy to prevent this flow of humans towards Dhaka? How will the decentralisation process be run? Who or which organization would be decentralized? We the citizens should work together to regenerate our urban environment.
