Without an iota of doubt it can be said that the world is getting warmer and subsequently the world climate is getting changed. But the people of this planet are not well prepared to face these natural ups and downs. A good number of countries are the worst sufferers of this cataclysmic hazard such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, especially the whole South Asian region. People were not much acquainted with the term 'Climate Change' in the past. Lately, it has become a buzzword. Of course, natural “dis-equilibrium” creates many changes in the whole process of climate. Generally, we know that any change in climatic process occurs after a long time pause. In recent years, the changes have been happening very rapidly. It is obvious that men made activities are massively responsible for climate change. Geographically, Bangladesh is situated in such a region where natural calamity is a common phenomenon. People in this region have been suffering from various forms of disasters namely cyclone, droughts, tidal surges etc for centuries and they have got used to enduring the catastrophic effects of the disasters. Bangladesh is a country of six seasons, nevertheless in recent years it is evident that a maximum of four seasons a year are felt. Bangladeshi people are the worst victims of the varying change of the Himalayan eco-system. Increased pressure of population and need for fuel and food have caused alarming deforestation in Bangladesh. The severe problems we will face due to the climate change are frequent floods, heavy rainfall, dearth of pure drinking water, sudden earthquakes etc. The disappearance of productive lands will enhance the sufferings of people. The rise of global temperature will increase vulnerability of the poor. It is now well acknowledged that global warming could result in water shortage, droughts and loss of livelihood. Thus climate change will deprive us of our basic needs. To adapt with the rapid changes of the climate, the government ought to take effective measures to minimize the losses. No country can alone resist the demons like outcome of this natural changes, but raising awareness amidst the mass people can reduce the losses. Since climate change is a global problem, it needs a global solution. Nonetheless, Bangladesh can play a leading role amongst the fellow vulnerable countries on the issue of climate change.
