May Day and Workers

Md. Belal Hossain Riad, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka
The historical importance of May Day is great. Labourers of America demanded 8-hour working time in 1886. In that gathering, police fired and some of the labourers were killed. We remember their great sacrifice on this day. With all the countries, May Day is celebrated in Bangladesh. All the unions of labourers arrange different types of programmes on this day. But the garment workers are not treated well and they don't get an acceptable salary. So, not only the celebration of May Day, but also we want solution to all the problems of our workers. Their rights must be established.
