Khaleda's threat
The DS's questions to Begum Khaleda Zia through its editorial of 11 May about reasons behind her threat to bring down the government are known to everyone. It is not the failure or success on the national issues. Failure or success does not matter much to her. The prime reason is the court and the present government's continued pursuance of legal process in the cases against her and her two sons.
Had this government not pursued "etim khana mamla, aurtho pacher mamla" in the courts, she would not have been much worried over continuation of the present government. This government is not doing enough to pursue other cases of her own party men. Many of her party men are freely doing politics, talking loudly in the talk shows, lecturing in the meetings, vowing tough campaign against the government having punishment orders on them from the courts. To my guess, I believe, the charges against Begum Zia are very sensitive which might jeopardize her social image if proved true in the court. This is very much embarrassing for her and her party. This she can't allow to happen for the sake of preserving her image among her supporters.
She also knows well that her untimely threat will not work much, but she will have to keep on issuing threats to the government to keep her supporters warmed up.
