Villagers save tiger

Staff Correspondent
A group of villagers in Bagerhat again saved the life of a tiger of Sundarbans on January 8, around one month after the same incident. On the day, a tiger suddenly came out of the mangrove forest and entered Uttar Rajapur village under its Sharankhola range and killed a cow there. On information, members of the village-based tiger response team (VTRT) of Dashervarani rushed in and helped the tiger to return to the forest, said a VTRT press release. The same incident occurred on December 10 last year and the VTRT members helped the tiger to return to the forest. VTRT is a community-based team formed under the Sundarbans Tiger Project, a joint initiative of the forest department, Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh and Zoological Society of London.
