Repair Aila-hit embankments by dry season

Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque yesterday directed to complete repair of all embankments within dry season, which was damaged by the cyclone Aila in 2009. "Those still living in makeshift camps on the embankments must be taken back to their normal lives. So, the repair must complete fast," the minister said during a visit in Khulna and Satkhira. Each of the families living on the embankments will be provided with Tk 20,000 for reconstruction of their houses as soon as the repair works ends, Razzaque said, says a press release of the food ministry. He said the authorities tried to repair the embankments, but that was not possible due to various problems.
