Take stern action against human traffickers: Shafique
Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed yesterday asked authorities concerned to take stern action against those engaged in human trafficking under the cover of employment abroad.
"Human traffickers, whoever they are, should be identified and brought to book," he told a seminar on Human Trafficking (Prevention and Protection) Act (draft).
Winrock International, Centre for Women and Children Studies, ACD and BIVA, an NGO, organised it at the city's Biam auditorium. National Human Rights Commission Chairman Dr Mizanur Rahman, Assistant IGP Shah Alam; Iqbal Khan Chowdhury, additional secretary of home; Sara Piazzano, Winrock International chief; Dianne Cullinane, The Daily Star Associate Editor Shah Husain Imam; journalist Mizanur Rahman Khan of Prothom Alo; and CWCS President Prof Ishrat Shamim also spoke.
