Ziaul Huq Zia's wife sent to jail
A Dhaka court yesterday sent Nasima Huq, wife of former LGRD state minister Ziaul Huq Zia, to jail in a tax evasion case in which she was earlier sentenced to six years' imprisonment in absentia.
Judge Jesmin Anwar of the Special Judge's Court-4 passed the order after Nasima along with her lawyers appeared before the court and sought bail in the case.
Judge Shamsunnahar of the same court on December 13, 2007 sentenced Nasima Huq to seven years' imprisonment for evading Tk 44.86 lakh in taxes upon his income.
The court also fined Nasima Tk 2 crore, in default, to suffer nine more months in jail.
