Four arrested over trucker, helper killing
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in recent drives has arrested four bandits who hijacked a rice-laden truck and allegedly killed its driver and helper on January 2.
The four men yesterday confessed to the crimes at a press briefing at Rab-1 office in the city, saying they were accomplices of Abu Salam and Hashem Gazi who were arrested on January 15.
Chand Miah alias Chandu, 52, and Mohammad Shahen Bhuiyan, 32, of Fatullah, Abu Taleb Chowkidar, 42, of Kalkini, Madaripur; and Mohammad Auwal, 28, of the city's Shyampur are the detainees.
Rab arrested them from Dhaka and Narayanganj on January 21-22 and recovered the truck from Gazipur.
On January 9, police recovered the decomposed bodies of the murdered trucker Nurul Islam, 32, and helper Mithu, 30, from a ditch near Dhaka Gate at Banani.
