'Cases against Milon false, fabricated'

BNP yesterday demanded withdrawal of cases filed against former state minister for education Ehsanul Haque Milon and his immediate release, terming the cases as 'false and fabricated'. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was addressing a press conference at the party's central office at Naya Paltan in the city. Milon's wife Naz-munnahar Baby and daughter Tanjida Nahar Haque were also present at the conference. Fakhrul said Milon's arrest on false cases and detention for the last 11 months is a clear violation of human rights. Milon secured bail in 19 cases from the High Court but another false case was filed by this time, keeping him in jail, he said. Fakhrul claimed that complainant of the case, filed with Kachua Police Station, is a fugitive accused of assaulting an AC land in Kachua. His (Milon's) detention is a part of the vindictive politics being run by the government and due to one influential lawmaker of the ruling party Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, said Fakhrul. He said Tanjida wrote a letter to National Human Rights Commission in this regard, urging attention of its chairman. Nazmunnahar alleged that ruling party cadres ransacked and looted their house several times.
