Five killed in road accidents

At least five people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in Pabna, Chapainawabganj, Brahmanbaria and Jhenidah on Friday and yesterday. Our correspondent form Pabna reports: Two people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents when a motorcycle skidded off road and a speedy truck rammed a three-wheeler at Ishwardi upazila on Friday. The deceased are Rokshana Khatun Rotna, 25, of village Pailanpur, who was riding on the motorcycle and Moslem Uddin Musa, 65, who was traveling on the three-wheeler, of village Mirkamari of Ishwardi upazila. Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj adds: A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a road accident when a bus hit the motorcycle on Chapainawabganj-Gomostapur road at Sarjan of Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased is Nazrul Islam, 35, son of Meghu Mondol of Munshefpur village of Sadar upazila. Our correspondent from Brahmanbaria says: One was killed and two people were injured in a road accident while two speedy trucks collided head-on on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Bariura village of Kasba upzila on Friday night. The deceased is truck driver Md Uzzal Mia, 30, of Tangail. Our correspondent from Jhenidah adds: A schoolboy was killed in a road accident when a truck hit him on Kotchandpur-Chaugacha highway at Salmanpur village of Kotchandpur upazila yesterday. The deceased is Rashed Ahmed, 12, son of Razzaque Biswas of Karigarpara and a student of Kotchandpur Pilot High School.
