Strengthen local govt: Moriarty
The US Ambassador James F Moriarty said the people of Bangladesh are being benefited with strengthening of the local government. The US is also with Bangladesh with this move, he added
Moriarty made the remark while addressing at Bhandarkot UP compound in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna after visiting a USAID supported project for strengthening local government, which is being implemented by NGO Rupantar.
He said the US will always stand by the side of Bangladesh as in the past in its move for implementation of the development works.
Earlier, the US envoy exchanged views at the Bhandarkot Union Parishad Auditorium with elected representatives, civil society members and women leaders of Nari Bikash Kendro. USAID Chief Danise Rollins was also present.
Directors Swapan Guha and Rafiqul Islam Khokan of NGO Rupantar, Chairman of Batiaghata UP Ashraful Alam Khan, Vice Chairman Bhagabati Golder and UNO Md Sajedur Rahman were present at the meeting.
