Tk 25 crore realised as fine

Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Ltd has realised Tk 25 crore as fine and cut off 88 connections to different organisations in Chittagong. The company fined different organisations Tk 35 crore for unregistered use of gas, said its deputy general manager (public relation), SM Lokman Kabir. Of the amount, Tk 25 crore has been realised from 53 organisations in last two and half months, he said. Lokman added that Karnaphuli is also trying to collect Tk 10 crore from remaining 21 consumers. According to official sources, most of the penalised organisations are CNG re-filling stations and industries. Karnaphuli authorities have been preparing to operate the next drive shortly, with its eight teams, added the sources.
