Road crashes kill nine
Nine people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj, Chapainawabganj, Sylhet, Netrakona, Sirajganj and Gaibandha on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Kishoreganj reports: Two were killed including a child while two others injured in separate road accident at Tarail upazila yesterday and on Wednesday night.
The deceased are Ratindra Debnath, 50, of Mriza village of Itna upazila and Ria Akter, 6, daughter of Chan Mia of Sachail village of Tarail upazila.
The first accident took place when a tempo, a three-wheeler, and auto rickshaw collided head-on at Taljanga of Fishari intersection, leaving three critically injured. Ratindra succumbed to his injuries.
The second one occurred when a Tarail-bound speedy Tomtom, a three-wheeler, crushed a six-year-old girl Ria Akter in Keya Cinema Hall area while she was playing in front her house around 12:00pm yesterday.
Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj adds: Two people were killed and another was injured in a road accident on Chapainawabganj-Sona Masjid land port highway when a speedy truck hit a motorcycle in front of Primary Education office in PTI area yesterday.
The deceased are Anisur Rahman, 27, son of Abdur Razzak of Gotha Para village and Mohammad Kosim Uddin, 60, son of Joynal of Kainra Para village under Charbagdanga union of Sadar upazila.
Staff correspondent from Sylhet says: Two people were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway when a speedy truck crashed two auto rickshaws at Rashidpur point at Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Tosor Uddin, 58 of village Sarmedhan of Biswanath upazila and auto rickshaw driver Nibash Dass, 50.
Our correspondent from Netrakona adds: A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident when lorry hit them on Netrakona-Durgapur road at Birishiri under Durgapur upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nawab Ali, 65, of village Nogorsingha under Durgapur upazila.
Our correspondent from Sirajganj says: A bicyclist was killed in a road accident when a car hit the bicyclist at Kadda near Bangabandhu Bridge west connecting road yesterday.
The deceased is Nurul Islam, 35, of Ambaria village under Belkuchi upazila.
Our correspondent from Gaibandha reports: A motorcycle rider was killed in a road mishap when a fish carrying speedy pickup van hit the motorcycle on Gaibandha- Palashbari road at Tindaha yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Raisuddin, 40, a medical representative.
