'Free JNU halls from occupants'
Students of Jagannath University yesterday demanded of the government to free several of its residential halls occupied by people of different quarters for long.
The students formed a human chain at its campus in the city, observing 'Residential hall retrieval day' like past years as 12 residential halls in city's Bangshal and Kotwali area are occupied and no student now reside there.
Jagannath University Proctor Kazi Asaduzzaman Khan said the students handed over a memorandum to them in this regard.
He added that during Jatiya Party regime, students were allowed to live in the halls though the university had no legal documents of these establishments.
He said the higher authority of the government was requested to recover the halls.
