Mannan warns developers against rules violation
The state minister for housing and public works yesterday warned a section of developers not to fill up water-bodies and agricultural land, and use below-quality construction materials to multiply their profits.
Abdul Mannan Khan, state minister for housing, warned the developers against violation of law while addressing the inaugural session of three-day REHAB Fair Chittagong, 2011 at Chittagong Club as the chief guest.
REHAB (Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh) organised the fair for the fifth time in Chittagong.
The minister said statistics show that hardly any land would be left for farming after sixty years if the present trend of occupying agricultural land for housing continues.
He underscored the importance of taking up environment-friendly projects for planned urbanisation.
The minister urged the realtors to follow ethics in business and be responsible for the society. He also asked them to abide by the rules of Detailed Area Plan (DAP).
DAP has been prepared after discussions with the people involved in this sector, so correction, if necessary, will be done in consultation with them, said Mannan.
A total of 96 real estate firms and one financial firm are participating in the fair to showcase their products and services.
The fair would be open from 10:00am to 9:00pm. The entry fee of a person for a single visit has been fixed at Tk 50 and for multiple visits Tk 100.
