Book on officer killed in BDR mutiny launched
What can be the feeling of a mother when she has to recollect memories of her dead son? It is difficult, but mother of Lt Col Enshad Ibn Amin, murdered during the BDR mutiny in 2009, did so with a heart full of pain and tears rolling down from her eyes.
It was not only Amin's mother who was crying in silence yesterday, but also the visitors attending the publication ceremony of a book "Hridoye Roktokhoron" on memories of Enshad.
"One with a long life has to face a lot of pain and witness intolerable incidents. There remains no option other than crying in silence and hiding the pain in the heart," said Amin's mother Fahmida Amin.
Similar is the case of all the mothers who lost their children in the mutiny on February 25, 2009 when 57 army personnel were killed.
At the conference room of Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (BILIA), Fahmida said Enshad dreamt of constructing a house and buying a car for his mother and properly educating his children.
"My son was supposed to go to leave prior to retirement (LPR) in only four days and celebrate his birthday after only five days. Who knew he would be killed in such a tragic manner?" she questioned.
Enshad went to so many conflict-prone countries, but nothing happened, she said, adding that, "But my son had to sacrifice his life in his own soil, in the hands of our own people. How can I bear this?"
"The lives of mothers come to a halt when they lose their children. This is truly difficult to accept, especially when such deaths are unnatural," he said.
Former chief justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman said it is very painful and unexpected to witness the death of ones child.
Noted civil engineer Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury said Enshad had all qualities that an ideal man should have.
"There are many who are crying for only one Enshad. Then think how many more are crying for the 56 officers? There is no end to the tears, it will continue," said educationist Prof Zillur Rahman Siddique.
Prof Gofran Uddin Titu and Syeda Selima Akter edited the book published by Radia Prokashan. Deputy Leader of the Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, journalist Anisul Haq, Enshad's uncle Dr Ziauddin Ahmed and elder brother Dr Mamun Ibn Amin also spoke.
