Poor do not get justice: Ershad

Our Correspondent, Ctg
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday said rich people get justice and poor people are deprived of it in Bangladesh. People's voice is absent in the country, he said. The ex-president was speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable in Chittagong city. Ershad said he would be vocal in the parliament on establishing the full bench of court at divisional level and would place a bill on that issue. “We do not have shortage of judges. Rather we do have shortage of goodwill for the decentralisation of the judiciary.” Prof Tofael Ahmed presented the keynote paper titled “Decentralisation of Court and Judiciary” at the roundtable organised by Forum for People's Voice (FPV). FPV President Manjur-Ul-Amin presided over the discussion addressed by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rab. Rab said black money is the reason behind the unrest in the society. Our country got independence, but it is still ruled by the British and Pakistani colonial law, he added. Awami League leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP leader Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin also spoke.
