Gazipur garment factory gutted

A fire destroyed fabrics, cotton, machinery and other valuables at a garment factory in Malekerbari area under Gazipur sadar upazila on Friday. Fire service sources said the fire originated on the tenth floor of the warehouse of Amex Apparels around 8:00pm and quickly spread to the ninth floor. On information, five fire fighting units from Gazipur, Tongi and Kaliakoir rushed to the spot and doused the fire after a one and a half hour effort. Factory Managing Director Mofijul Haq said property worth about Tk one crore was damaged.
