Nine killed in road accidents
Nine people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Bhola, Chittagong, Gaibandha and Kushtia yesterday.
Our correspondent from Barisal reports: Three motorcyclists, including SSC and HSC examinees, were killed in a road accident when a speedy bus hit the motorcycle on Charfession-Bhola road at Gazaria in Bhola.
The deceased are Sumon, 20, son of Salam Farazi, SSC examinee of Gazaria High School, Zahid Hossain, cousin of Sumon and HSC examinee of Azaharuddin College and son of Kamal Farazi, of Farazi Bari and Firoz, son of Syeed Bepari, of Bepari Bari of Gazaria under Lalmohan upazila.
After the accident agitated people burnt the bus and blocked Charfession -Bhola road.
UNB from Sherpur adds: Three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident when the driver of a local bus lost his control over the steering and hit pedestrians in Purbosheri area of the town yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Dhanu Mia, 75, of Protaria village in Sadar upazila, Kajal Mia, 45, of Nouhata area and Mokkas, 60, of Purbosheri area of the town.
The injured, including police constable Moinul Hossain, were taken to Sadar hospital where Dhanu and Mokkas succumbed to their injuries. Condition of another injured Ujjal, 16, was stated to be critical.
Our correspondent from Chittagong says: One young woman, Ruby, 20, was killed in a road accident when a truck hit her in front of Chittagong EPZ gate in the port city yesterday.
Our correspondent from Gaibandha adds: One person was killed and five others were injured when a speedy truck rammed into a grocery shop on Gaibadha-Sunderganj road at Kabiler Bazar yesterday. The deceased is Abdur Rahman, 60.
Police seized the truck and arrested the bus driver.
Our correspondent from Kushtia says: A school student, Anisul Islam Sohag, was killed in a road accident when a brick-laden truck hit him from behind on Govipur-Meherpur road at Govipur bridge in Meherpur while he was going to school yesterday.
