Four killed in road crashes
Four people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in Narayanganj, Magura and Netrokona districts on Tuesday and yesterday.
Our Narayanganj correspondent adds: One person was killed and two others were injured as an onion-laden truck hit another truck from behind on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Keodhala in Bandar upazila yesterday morning.
Monirul Islam Sumon, 32, an onion trader, died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the condition of injured persons--Mohammad Nasir, driver of the truck, and his helper Dibakor---was stated to be critical.
UNB Magura says: Traffic movement on Magura-Jessore road came to a halt for four hours due to road blockade in Sadar upazila following death of a farmer in a road accident yesterday.
Police said Quddus Biswas, 60, a farmer of Jagla village in same upazila, died on the spot when hit by a speedy pick-up van at Jagla Bazar at about 9:00am.
Angered by the accident, local people blocked the road demanding construction of speed breaker disrupting traffic movement for about four hours.
Our Correspondent from Netrakona adds: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the district on Tuesday night.
In an accident, Mafizuddin, 45, of Amtola village in Sadar upazila, died on the spot on Netrakona-Amtola road in the area at about 9:00pm when an engine-driven trolley hit his bicycle.
Yet in another incident, Khodaza Khatun, 45, wife of Lal Miah of village Panch-Alamshree in Madan upazila died instantly on Madan-Kendua road at Chalkpara of the upazila at about 10:00pm when a motorcycle hit her.
