No rule of law in country
Says Rafiqul Haque
Barrister Rafiqul Haque yesterday said there is no rule of law in the country.
“No one ever takes any steps to establish rule of law in the country,” he also said while addressing a book launching ceremony at the Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Rafiqul Haque said the editor of the Daily Amar Desh and its special correspondent have established the freedom of press. “They have made history by establishing the fundamental rights of press,” he added.
BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed claimed that the government has diverged the entire border in violating human rights. “The government has deviated from the main concept of human rights,” he added.
The justice should be accountable to the parliament, Moudud also said.
Among others, editor of the Daily Amader Somoy Naimul Islam Khan and former president of Jatiya Press Club Shawkat Mahmud addressed the programme.
Earlier, the speakers inaugurated a book titled- Ondhokar O Nipironer Karajibon (Dark and repressive jail life). The book is written by journalist Oliullah Noman.
