Three students among six die in road crashes
Six people, including three students, were killed and 19 others injured in road accidents in Comilla, Chapainawabganj, Jhenaidah, Khulna and Rajshahi districts yesterday.
UNB, Comilla reports: Two students were killed and 14 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Beltoli on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sadar Dakkhin upazila yesterday.
The dead are Masum Billah, son of Abu Taher of Komardoga village in Chouddagram upazila and Alvi Sarkar, son of Jubair Alam Sarkar of the district town.
Police said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus from Chandpur collided head-on with a microbus coming from opposite direction, leaving two microbus passengers dead on the spot and 14 others injured at around 10:00am.
The injured were admitted to hospitals.
Our Chapainawabganj Correspondent adds: A minor boy was killed and four other people were injured when a bus hit a Bhutbhuti (three-wheeler) at Khirabad in Gomostapur upazila around 12:30pm yesterday.
Babu, 5, son of Ekhlas Uddin of Dusimoni Kanthal village in the upazila, died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the upazila health complex.
Our Correspondent from Jhenidah reports: A man was killed in a road crash on Jhenidah-Jessore Highway near Boishakhi Filling Station in Kaliganj upazila yesterday noon.
Bulu Ahmed, 42 son of Sheikh Abdul Karim of Bolidapara village of the town died on the spot when a bus hit his bicycle.
BSS, Khulna says: Shahin, a third year student of BL College was killed when a bus hit him and another at Kalibagan in the city yesterday.
After the incident, agitating people and students of the college damaged the bus and barricaded the highway for about three hours. Police arrested bus driver Afhul Islam.
In Rajshahi, Giash Uddin, 55, of Yousufpur village in Charghat upazila was hit by a bus at Bhadra in the city yesterday morning. He died on the way to hospital.
