2 stores in BMA building gutted
A fire gutted two stores of surgical instruments in Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) building in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city yesterday afternoon.
Fire fighters subdued the blaze in a half-hour effort at 3:00pm.
Shahbagh police said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at Khaza Trade Link, a shop of surgical instruments, on the ground floor and spread to an adjacent shop.
The panic-stricken people managed to get outside the building, as traders inside the building used fire extinguishers soon after the fire broke out, he said.
