Reprinted constitution before JS body tomorrow
The law ministry will place the reprinted copy of the country's constitution to the parliamentary special committee on constitutional amendments tomorrow, Law Minister Shafique Ahmed said.
The parliamentary special committee is set to hold a meeting tomorrow.
The law minister told The Daily Star that his ministry has reprinted the constitution restoring the four fundamental state principles of the original constitution in the light of Supreme Court verdict.
The four principles are -- secularism, Bangalee nationalism, socialism and democracy.
He said that the words “Bismillah-Ar-Rahman-Ar-Rahim” and declaration of Islam as state religion will remain as usual.
The HC in 2005 had cancelled the fifth amendment of the constitution, and the SC last year upheld the verdict with some modifications and observations.
