DCC evicts makeshift structures

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) evicted makeshift structures from the pavements along Airport Road and in Mirpur area in the capital yesterday, as part of the ongoing drive against illegal occupancy on the eve of World Cup Cricket 2011. Around 50 illegal structures were removed from the sidewalks stretching from the airport to Radisson Hotel, said Mohsin Uddin, estate officer of DCC. The DCC also removed construction materials, logs of timber, footpath vendors and more makeshift shops from Kalshi Road in Mirpur-1 roundabout and around Muktijoddha Market and fined the occupants.
