Call to set up hygienic public toilets
Speakers yesterday called upon authorities concerned to set up hygienic and decent public toilets to prevent negative impacts on the environment and public health.
They were speaking at a human chain programme organised by Paribesh Bachao Andolan (Poba) in front of Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) at Dhaka University, says a press release.
Most educational institutions and public places including rail stations, bus and launch terminals and hospitals do not have sufficient toilets, speakers said, adding that different physical complexities are triggered in people deprived from using toilets.
Speakers demanded formulation and implementation of a sound policy in this regard and asked authorities to supply enough water, soap and toilet paper to maintain decent condition in the toilets.
Peace Director General Ifma Hossain and Poba Central Committee member Aslam Khan also spoke.
