CU BCL ransacks provost room
A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League members Chittagong University unit yesterday ransacked the room of the provost of Alaul Hall and damaged valuables.
The incident occurred as Provost Hossain Kabir confined six BCL activists who were illegally staying at the hall.
On information, some activists of BCL, associate students body of ruling Awami League, entered the hall and ransacked the provost's room.
The provost said he may resign from his hall post over the matter.
BCL CU unit General Secretary Ershad Hossain said there was a misunderstanding between the resident students and the provost. Misbehaviour of the provost and hall staffs triggered the incident, he claimed.
Acting proctor Dr Mohammad Akhter Hossain said they would take proper action against the responsible students after an investigation.
