150 shanties burnt to ashes
A fire gutted about 150 shanties and damaged valuables worth Tk 50 lakh in Chala Colony of Baubazar in Chittagong city early yesterday.
No person was reported hurt in the blaze originated from a short circuit, according to police and fire service sources.
Eight fire fighting units from Kalurghat, Chand-anpura, Nandankanan, and Lamabazar subdued the fire an hour later.
In another fire in New Market area, valuables worth Tk 13 lakh were gutted. The blaze was originated from a short-circuit in S Alam CNG Filling Station and was doused by fire fighters about half-hour later. No person was reported injured.
