Speakers urge govt
Speakers at a discussion yesterday urged the government to provide education to all through implementation of the National Education Policy 2010. The discussion on the memory of the martyred intellectuals was organised by the department of history at RC Majumder Auditorium of Dhaka University.
Dr Kholiquzzaman, co-chairman of National Education Policy 2010, presented the keynote paper.
History department chairman Shirin Hasan Osmani was in the chair. Prof Kholiquzzaman stressed the need to form a national education commission, accreditation council, and a non-government election commission to make the education policy successful. As the chief guest, Prof Sadrul Amin, dean of faculty of arts, said education should be extended to the grassroots level like in urban areas. Education policy's implementation is vital for this, he added.
Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, vice chancellor of National University; Robaet Ferdous, assistant professor of mass communication and journalism department; Dr Anisuzzaman, professor of philosophy department; and Mrittika Shahita of history department, among others, were present at the programme.
