Dhaka bar assoc polls on Feb 23, 24
The annual election of Dhaka Bar Association (DBA), known as apex bar in Asia Continent, for the year of 2011-2012 will begin today and continue till tomorrow.
An official of the DBA election commission told The Daily Star that the casting votes will continue for two days beginning at 9:00am today.
A total of 10,937 out of 14,591 lawyers will cast their votes.
Two panels--one Sammilita Ainjibi Samanoy Parishad (white panel) of pro-Awami League lawyers and the other one Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikyo Forum (blue) of pro-BNP lawyers will contest the election.
A total of 50 candidates for the 25 posts will contest and they are working hard to win their respective posts.
Shaikh Hemayet Hossain and Mohammad Ali Hossain, president and general secretary respectively, from Sammilito Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad while Mohammad Masud Ahmed Talukder and Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, president and general secretary, from Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikyo Forum, will contest the election.
