Strategy on Climate Issues
Ensure women's role
Speakers at a programme yesterday stressed the need for ensuring women's participation in climate change strategy and action plan.
At a book launching ceremony, they also urged the government to fulfill women's demands and address their problems.
Campaign for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods (CSRL), Karmajibi Nari, and Centre for Global Change (CGC) organised the ceremony at the Jatiya Press Club.
The book Narivashe Jalobayu Poribartan: Taman Manusher Sukh Uthi Gechha authored by Sirajul Islam Abed described the miseries of women in the country's 30 regions.
Editor of the Anonna, Tasmima Hossain; founding president of Karmajibi Nari, Shirin Akter; and CGC Adviser Sharminda Nilormi also spoke at the function.
The speakers said responsiveness towards women was not found in the activities mentioned in “Climate Change and Action Plan 2009” formulated by the government.
