Master plan for haor areas on cards: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday told the Parliament that the government is going to formulate a master plan for overall development of haors and other wetland areas of the country.
Replying to a question of Md Shahab Uddin (Moulabhibazar-1), she said the `Preparation of Master Plan and Development of Database for Haors and Wetlands Project' will end in December this year.
She informed the House that a total of Tk 7,39,48,000 would be spent to complete the database preparation project.
“The master plan for the development of haors and baors will be formulated after this project ends,” she said.
There are some 414 haors and 23 wetlands across the country, Hasina said.
