'Tortured' wife dies
A woman in the city's Moghbazar died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday allegedly due to injuries inflicted by her husband five days ago.
Nazma, 22, was first admitted to a clinic at Tejgaon on March 7 and later shifted her to DMCH. The couple was residing in the city's Meer Hajirbagh.
Nazma's father Majibur Rahman of Jhalokathi district told The Daily Star that her husband Ainul Zaman Sohag admitted Nazma to the hospital after beating her up mercilessly for dowry of Tk 5 lakh. Sohag and his family members have now gone into hiding, said Majibur.
