2 suspected JMB men held

Two suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban yesterday. A joint force of police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive made the arrests of Shamin Mahfuz, 40, and Mohammad Ismail, 36, in the remote hilly area of Kalapara. Shamin who claimed himself as a teacher of Bangladesh Open University admitted that he and five fellows came to Thanchi to train themselves up on militancy, said sources. The law enforcers discovered a training camp named "Safe Haven" in the area and seized a huge amount of explosives, a number of jihadi and militant books, and other things.
