One killed, 40 injured in road crash
A man was killed and 40 other people were injured in a road accident at Sikir Bazar in Kotalipara upazila yesterday.
Siddik Sheikh, 55, of Chittrapara village of the upazila died on the spot.
Kotalipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kabir Mahmud said around 9:00am the accident occurred when the driver of a district-bound bus lost his control over the steering and the bus fell into a roadside ditch.
The injured was sent to the health complex.
Following the incident, locals barricaded the highway for three hours demanding renovation of the road that led a clash with police.
Later, District Commi-ssioner Sheikh Yousuf Harun assured the locals about the road development of the area and removed the barricade.
