Here are some comments that came in response to Sunday's The Daily Star report headlined “Scamsters out to discredit probe”. Md. Russell Talukder
The small investors should firmly support Ibrahim Khaled, as his report covers many aspects of truth, if not the entire truth. To take action and safe guard stock market, the government can find enough derivatives from the report. The government should not delay things, as it will give the culprits time to conspire further, and some of what has already become visible. The government should shut down the market for the time being, as the culprits will definitely hit the market to save them from any stern action against them. Khondkar A Saleque
Government will dig its own grave if it continues to dilly dally in taking actions against share market scam masters. We do not understand what makes government confused in not letting the names of alleged plunderers known to public? Delay in doing that will create speculations. This will annoy millions of affected share market small investors. People will try to find links of scam masters with government policy makers. Government must establish its neutrality on this serious and sensitive issue through acting upon recommendations of probe committee. Faqrul in USA
The ministry of finance and for that matter the government has allowed the power group enough time to interfere as the report indicates. I cannot understand how a responsible government can deny the rights of the people to have full view of the report officially when the report is already out in the hands of the responsive journalist and the media. The government might face two counts of charges for making a genuine issue of corruption and public interest passed off by time killing. Failure to act as per constitution and law of the country to make the report published without editing. Deliberate delay to initiate any legal action to allow further foul play by the identified culprits to influence the proceedings of the case in their favour. What a shame !! Saidur Rahman
The report must see light. The government should press hard with the report to bring the perpetrators to justice at least once to show their conviction for good governance and goodwill to the country people. The government should not submit to the mischievous businessmen and politicians. An example would brighten the image of the AL government, and create better environment for further business expansion. Sajjad
It does look like 1996 and 2009 scamsters are same people, and at both times AL in power. An observer
Nothing will be done to get the culprits in the book. Government's action against this scam is quite predictable as no one from the top platform has yet shown any positive stance or even a comment ensuring the public the punishment of those involved, as the reported culprits are mostly from the so-called top political parties. Till 1990, we were having various governments of autocratic nature. But since 1991, our governments have taken the shape of looting and terrorism under the cover of democracy while fooling around all the way the simpleminded poor and helpless people of the country.
