Swami Akkharananda passes away
Principal of Dhaka Ramkrishna Mission Swami Akkharananda died of old age complications in a city hospital yesterday. He was 83.
Akkharananda was admitted to the Apollo Hospital last month with diabetic, kidney and other complications and died around 10:00am.
Akkharananda also known as "Maharaja" would be cremated at Sabujbagh Crematory this noon, said an official of the Mission.
The president of Bangladesh Puja Utjapon Parishad Subroto Chowdhury and general secretary Mongol Chandra Ghosh, president of Mohanagar Sarbojaneen Puja Committee Biresh Chandro Shaha and general secretary Babul Debnath and general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Jub Oikya Parishad, Nirmol Kumar Chettarji expressed deep shock at his death.
Born in Satkhira in 1929, Akkharananda was the vice-principal of Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission in India.
He joined the Dhaka Ramkrishna Mission in 1974 and set up its wings at different places.
