Green activists yesterday at a rally demanded exemplary punishment to encroachers and polluters of the river Buriganga and the people responsible for illegal demarcation of rivers. They also urged the authorities concerned to demarcate the rivers according to Cadastral Survey (CS) following satellite map. Save the Environment Movement organised the rally on boats on the river Buriganga yesterday, says a press release. Speakers at the rally said the pillars have been set up inside the rivers to stop river grabbing that will pave the way for encroaching on the rivers more. They reiterated their earlier demands for setting up an effective and strong river commission to stop encroachment. The illegal structures built on the river should be evicted immediately. Save the Environment Movement Chairman Abu Naser Khan, columnist Syed Abul Moksud and Green Mind Society President Amir Hasan participated in the rally.
