Surya Sen's ideologies live on

Textile and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddique here yesterday said though Masterda Surya Sen is no more, his ideologies and struggle against British imperialism continue to inspire Bangalees. He urged people to build up a massive movement to achieve the unfinished tasks of War of Liberation being imbued with the spirit of Jubo Bidroho Dibash (youth revolt day). Latif was addressing a discussion as the chief guest held at JM Sen Hall of Chittagong University (CU) organised by The Chittagong Association. It was in observance of historic Jalalabad Day and to show respect to martyrs who struggled against the British rule. On preserving Jalabad Pahar (hill), where the martyrs fought the British army, as a historical place, he assured of talking with the defense ministry and the prime minister, as its custodian is Bangladesh Army. He urged all to learn from the struggle and life of Surya Sen and unite against communalism and fundamentalism. The association Secretary Principal Gopal Das delivered his welcome speech at the programme, presided over by the association Vice President Mahab Uddin Ahmed. The Prothom Alo Resident Editor Abul Momen, Prof Dr Jahidur Rahman of CU history department and Prof Ranjit Dey of CU also spoke.
