Citizen Rights Movement, an organisation, yesterday at a rally demanded of the Wasa authorities to stop supplying stinky water to some parts of old Dhaka. The rally was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. The leaders of the organisation said residents of some areas of old Dhaka, including Agamasi Lane, Siddque Bazar, Aga Sadeque Road, Katuali and Bongshal area, are getting unusable water from Wasa for the last 3 months. They also demanded repealing the draft of the Bangladesh Water Act. If the water act gets approval then the people of the country will fall under huge crisis of water, including drinking water. They suggested keeping the water management and distribution under control of the government instead of making it commercialised. They demanded cancellation of the decision of constricting structures for the staff of Wasa on the playground adjacent to the pump of Wasa at Agamasilane. They urged Wasa to renovate its deep tube-well at the place. The rally was presided over by President of the Citizen Rights Movement Md Mofizul Hoque Sarkar. Among others, Secretary General Tushar Rehman and Dr M Enamul Hoque addressed the rally.
