70 injured as arms, bombs, sharp weapons used
(April 27, 2011) We are waiting to see how DU authority, Home Ministry and Prime Minister take action against the unruly members of Chattra League. Only good word and unnecessarily condemning other political party have no value. People wants to see due action. Please save the educational institutes and save the nation otherwise people would retaliate in near future.
Abu Zubair Except stopping the fight what action have the police taken against the persons who carried illegal fire arms and other weapons? Why police has not made any arrests? Shall we always see goons being protected? Is our Law different for different people?
Anonymous I am ashamed to say when all the countries around the world study and become more competitive, our students in Bangladesh engage in low level activities. Grow up Bangladesh!
Green Prime Minister, please stop violence and try to reform your BCL. Otherwise, people will refuse you.
Sairul Bangladesh appears to be the only country in the world where the university students, instead of learning to be united, practice politics of destruction at the cost of academic excellence. The irony is that we seem to be very proud of these sprouting spores, without thinking that co-existence in harmony is impossible in the professional life. Isn't it like day dreaming to expect a country of better tomorrow with these students as leaders?
Md. Russell Talukder It's really shame for students as well as Chhatra League backed by Awami League. The university is not now the place for education. We know what's happening with student's politics. They are destroying the educational environment and killing our brothers, sisters and teachers. We know that students played great role for the independence of Bangladesh. Now, there is no chance of independence. So, it is unnecessary to allow politics at university.
Jobaer Alam No arrest made after this surprising attack. Is it because they are ruling parties' student wing? Madam Home Minister, your party faction's internal feud assaults on apolitical students. What will be your excuse to the injured students' guardians? You frequently mention that whoever breaks the law even if they are your relatives shall not be spared.
Nasirullah Mridha When the government is busy with uprooting other student organizations from the campuses then how can it control its own wing? It might also be a divine outcome for exercising over-power on the student organizations of opponent parties by the ruling party. Now where is our Home Minister to conduct a 'combing operation'? Shame! We are uncivilised people of an uncivilised country.
Akash Mahmood This is not new for Chhatra League, they did it before. To stop it, government should take stern action through finding out the root causes and the persons behind it. Otherwise, whole image of AL would be jeopardised.
Sanwar Moni These are the outcome of privileged incidence provoked by ruling party. This is shameful that the DU VC limits his responsibilities by giving statement in the media. What the hell is he doing? If he could not restore the favorable situation for study, he must resign. Being a higher authority of the university, the VC is busy to restore ruling party's interest rather than ensuring studying environment.
Muiyeen Being a student of Dhaka University, I am ashamed to see the bad practice on the campus. This proves that we are not fully civilized. I am strongly against such kind of violence. The government should ban student's politics and all civilized society and organization should support the government.
BK Podder Still we are uncivilised in this world. It is very shameful for us. We hate this kind of violence. This is never acceptable in educational institutions.
Hassan As usual the government has no control over BCL.
