Bangladesh celebrated its 40-year of independence. Like other Bangladeshis, I was glad to observe the joyous moment. Forty-year is enough time for an independent country to achieve her goal. But it is a matter of great regret that we did not yet acquire our ultimate goal. The freedom fighters, who scarified their lives for the sake of the country, could not find peace in the heaven because we have totally failed to fulfill their dream. Corruption, military rule, political instability, lack of patriotism, heinous student politics, lack of prudent leadership are also responsible for this condition. On the other hand in the last four-decade, we achieved many things. Among them, democracy, Nobel Prize in peace, test status in cricket, linked up submarine cable are notable. In these circumstances to celebrate the independence of 50-years successfully, the government should take necessary steps in these regards as soon as possible.
