Here are some comments that came in response to Saturday's The Daily Star report headlined “DCC looking for sites.” Anonymous
Everywhere in the world, the inter-district bus terminals are situated at the heart of the city, but our case is quite reverse. Carrying passenger from the city to the terminals in the outskirts by numerous smaller vehicles rather causes traffic jams as well as safety and security hazards. Every engineering measure should be done through proper technical study. The traffic problem at the present terminal places can also be managed through better management with support from the transport companies. Kazi Salim
It's a good idea. The DCC will have to ensure connecting bus and other services to and from the city to the newly built Bus Terminals. This program should implement quickly. After arranging all the formalities, like land, shades, sanitation and parking spaces for the buses and cars and taxis. Don't keep this plan into the files. S Ali
Salehuddin's opinion is pragmatic. Mohakhali bus terminal is almost at the center of the city. It should be shifted somewhere beyond Tongi. Besides, the easiest way to ease traffic jam is to introduce big-body or double-decker buses replacing the worn out and smaller vehicles from the main roads. It's mysterious why the authority is reluctant to remove worn-out and smaller vehicles from the main roads. The existing road space is enough if proper road management is done and the smaller and worn out vehicles are removed.
