Five injured as CU BCL factions clash
Five students of Chittagong University (CU) were seriously injured yesterday when rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) clashed in a sequel of Friday's clash on the campus.
CU disciplinary committee expelled seven students for one year for their involvement.
Witnesses said CU shuttle train compartment-based BCL groups clashed near Shaheed Minar area on the campus, injuring Soumen and Arif, both second year students of international relations department.
In the afternoon, the groups clashed again leaving Quazi Tanjim of finance and banking department and Zobaer Ahmed and Rifat bin Sadeque of sociology department injured.
Those expelled are Fazle Rabbi Sujon, a second year student of finance and banking; Mokarram Hossain, a second year student of history; Kishore Das, a second year student of law; Imran Hossain, a second year student of botany; Md Sharifuzzaman and Jamir Uddin, third year students of sociology; and Md Nuruzzaman, a second year student of accounting and information systems.
