Three killed in road crashes
Three people were killed and 14 others injured in separate road accidents in Pabna, Chittagong and Satkhira yesterday.
Our Pabna correspondent reports: One woman was killed and 10 others were critically injured as a speedy truck hit a passenger loaded nosiman, locally made three-wheeler, on Mathurapur mission road of Chatmohar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Jamila Khatun, 40, wife of Rajab Ali, of village Mohorkhali of same the upazila.
The injured were admitted to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee away from the spot.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong says: One man was killed and four police personnel were injured seriously as a police pick-up van and a bronze carrying truck collided head-on on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Madam Bibir Hat area of Shitakunda in the port city yesterday.
The deceased was an attendant of KY Steel Mills in Chittagong but police could not identify him immediately.
The injured police are Inspector Jalil and Constable Shimul, Jahir and Sudip. They are admitted to Police Hospital in Chittagong.
Our Satkhira correspondent adds: An eleven-year-old meritorious school student was killed as a truck crushed him while he was going to school riding bicycle on Satkhira-Ellarchar road at Dahakula intersection in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Md Raihan Gazi, a class six student of Satkhira Govt High School, son of Golam Hossain Gazi, of village Fingri of Sadar upazila.
Locals caught the truck with its driver and handed over to police.
